In March, May and April, the PEWG welcomed three guest speakers, on climate justice, The Scottish Climate Clitizens Assembly, and the Scottish Government's Heat in Builings Strategy. Each provided very lively and useful insights to inform our work
In March we heard from Justin Kenrick, a Friend from Portobello&Musselburgh Meeting, an anthropologist and advocacy activist on matters of climate justice. In April we were joined by Ruth Harvey, leader of the Iona Community and Co-Convenor of the Scottish Climate Citizens Assembly (Nov 202-March 2021) – also a Quaker. She explained the process of the Assembly and its ongoing relevance. In May we heard from the Scottish Government’s Heat in Buildings Regulation unit about the work being done to reduce carbon emissions, and fuel poverty, through their Heat in Buildings Strategy. Summaries of the presentations are available as documents on this page or the Climate Emergency/Economic Justice pages.
