Response to the Consultation on the Rented Sector

PEWG responded to the Scottish Government’s consultation on its draft rented sector strategy, with the help of Quaker Housing Trust. Our concern for housing is firmly rooted in our spiritual values and our understanding that inequalities in housing are inextricably related to other inequalities: poverty, unemployment, health, education, prejudice and other causes of social marginalisation. We believe that a secure home with adequate space and amenities is an essential foundation for individuals and households to grow. It is a vital part of making true community. As we seek all possible means to improve the sustainability of our way of living, decisions about housing and the energy use it entails need to take account of the changes we need to make.
