Quakers and the UN Climate Talks
COP26 workshop for Quakers in Scotland
In November 2021, the United Nations (UN) climate talks known as 'COP26' will take place in Glasgow. This is a key moment for the UK climate movement, and for global efforts to remain within 1.5 degrees of warming above pre-industrial levels.
Curious about COP26? Wondering how to take action? Join an online workshop for Scotland to find out what Quakers are doing and how you can get involved. Hosted by Andrew Tomlinson Parliamentary Engagement Officer and Olivia Hanks QPSW
Lots of Friends around Britain are stepping up their climate action in preparation for COP26, or getting involved for the first time – and Quaker Peace & Social Witness (QPSW) is here to support you.
This session will include a presentation covering the COP26 'essentials': What will be decided there? What commitments has the UK made? Will COP26 be a success, and what does that mean? We will also speak about what QPSW is doing around COP26, and how you can get involved. In the second half of the session, we will divide into small groups to begin to discuss how we can most effectively contribute to the climate movement in this important year.
We are running the same workshop multiple times between April and June, with each date aimed at specific regions. The Scotland session will include Scotland specific content. If you cannot attend on the date scheduled for Scotlland, you are welcome to sign up for a different one.
